Q.
What kind of warranty do Spidi products have?
A. All Spidi products have a two-year from purchase date warranty on workmanship
and/or materials. Warrantee covers the original buyer only and is not
transferable. If the item in question does fall under warranty Motonation,
at its discretion, will cover the repair or replacement of the item. Crash
damage is NOT covered under warranty!
Motonation
reserves the right to repair or replace, at our discretion, any valid
warranty claim. All warrantee claims must be accompanied by a copy of
the original invoice from where the item was purchased.
In
addition to providing complete warranty repair or replacement for your
item Motonation also offers comprehensive repair services at reasonable
prices (cost varies with work required). This added service is helpful
when you experience a difficulty that is not covered under warranty.
A
Return Authorization Number is required in order for us to begin processing
a warranty claim or repairing your item. To obtain an RA# or discuss a
problem that you may be experiencing with your Spidi product you may call
us at 619-401-4100. You will be responsible for the cost of shipping the
product to us: If your problem is covered under warranty Motonation will
pay for the return freight. It will be sent UPS Ground unless you request
more immediate handling. Motonation will then charge the customer for
the difference between UPS Ground and the requested handling.
Q. How does Spidi work its jacket sizing?
A. That is a common question when people see that Spidi sizes some jackets
in the European numeric sizing system (example: 52, 54 etc) and others
in the classic system Americans are more accustomed to (example: M, L,
XL etc).
As with any high end product the answer is a bit complex. You see, Spidi
knows that some riders like a different fit than others. It is for this
reason that Spidi offers its jackets in two distinctly different "cuts".
The European cut is the more tightly tailored cut and is offered in the
more precise sizing runs of 48-60 men's and 40-52 ladies. The American
cut is a looser fit (especially around the belly) and is offered in the
customary small thru XXL (or larger) sizes.
So, no matter the rider's preference, the tightly tailored look or the
more roomy American look Spidi has riders the world over covered.
Q. When sizes small, medium, large, X-large,
and XX-large are used what is
the number size equivalent?
A. There is not a direct equivalent due to the cut itself (see the previous
question) However in general you could say:
Small = 46, Medium = 48, Large = 50-52, X-Large = 54-56, XX-Large =56-58.
You will notice two number sizes for some of the letter equivalent; this
is due to the more precise measurements when working with number sizing
as compared to the letter sizing that run a more relaxed fit.
Q. Then what size jacket do I order?
A. When ordering a Spidi textile jacket you will need your Chest and Waist
size, it is best to have these measurements taken in Centimeters. Why
Centimeters? Only the finest European craftsmen manufacture Spidi products,
the tools and
measuring devises they use are all metric. Yes you can convert to inches
but this is not an exact conversion.
When a leather jacket is desired, measure your Chest, Waist, and Length
of arm (arm length is measured from the neck to the wrist). Leather suits
require Chest, Waist, Length of arm, and Height measurements.
Again measurements in centimeters are best and will insure the very best
in fit.

Q.
What thickness leather is used in Spidi leather suits?
A. Spidi uses 1.2mm premium Italian top grain leather, which Spidi tanneries
continually monitor for proper thickness and quality (others use 1.4mm
to 1.6mm to try and achieve the same abrasion level). This is the only
way to insure the high safety factor required when using this thickness
of leather. Other benefits of 1.2mm premium Italian top grain leather
are reduced weight, improved mobility, and increased durability. This
translates into less rider fatigue with unsurpassed safety standards.
Q. What leather is used in the Varitek
Wind and Touring suits?
A. Spidi does not cut corners in any of the leather suits nor leather
jackets; the same premium Italian top grain Italian leather is used in
all their suits and can also be found in the NRG, SEVEN, BASIC BLACK and
other Spidi leather jackets.
Q. What is BIOMECHANIC?
A. Biomechanic is the trademark name for Spidi's advanced shoulder and
forearm protection system. This new shoulder/forearm protection far surpasses
the current CE certifications, not only were improved shock
absorbing characteristics achieved but you will find reduced weight, superior
coverage, advanced ergonomics, limited thickness and improved ventilation.
Q. Why not a removable liner in the Admiral
suits?
A. Spidi's goal was to offer the consumer the very best 100% waterproof/breathable
suit that could actually be put on over street clothes with out having
to sit in a chair or wrestling it on while falling down. They call this
FASTWEAR; the liners are fastened so that there is no chance of twisting,
bunching, or liners stuck to your clothing when removed. This suit is
guaranteed 100% waterproof but still breaths through Spidi's exclusive
H2OUT micro pored liner. Ventilation is also achieved through LH/RH side
self-sealing zipper system, this same self-sealing zipper is found throughout
the suit.
Q.
What is the Ergo jacket and pants outer shell made of?
A. The Ergo outer shell is constructed of 500 denier CORDURA that is TEFLON
treated. The TEFLON treatment increases strength plus prevents the material
from retaining water resulting in a heavy wet garment.
Q.
What is the temperature comfort range of the Ergo system?
A. The Ergo jacket has the capabilities of keeping a rider comfortable
in temperatures ranging from 23-104 degrees. This is accomplished by the
Ergos unique removable liner system.
